Elma is a town in Erie County, NY. The population was 11,304 at the 2000 census.
The Town of Elma is located in the north-central part of the county, east of Buffalo, New York. Because of its location, Elma likes to refer to itself as the "heart of Erie County.
The town was established in 1857 from parts of the Towns of Aurora and Lancaster. Elma was the last town formed in the county.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 34.5 square miles. The population density was 327.7 people per square mile.
